About the Palace
The palace was constructed between 1910 and 1912 for the Łódź industrialist A. Biedermann.
 

The building is part of a palace and park estate situated at the junction of Franciszkańska and Północna Streets.

Palace Spaces
The palace contains historic and elegantly appointed interiors.
 

The interior spaces comprise a study, dining room, drawing rooms, and a ceremonial staircase decorated with Mannerist and Baroque ornamentation.

The building houses conference rooms and exhibition spaces. It also contains collections presenting the history of the University of Łódź. Representative halls

 

 

The Palace in the Present Day

The Palace in the Present Day

The Palace houses interfaculty units, research centres, and artistic ensembles, including:

  • Social Innovation Centre
  • Jerzy Giedroyc Centre
  • Ceraneum
  • Asian Affairs Centre
  • Academic Choir of the University of Łódź

The Palace also holds collections illustrating the history of the University of Łódź, the lives of its academic staff and students, as well as a dedicated room commemorating the University’s first Rector, Professor Tadeusz Kotarbiński.

The building further contains the collection of Andrzej Różycki, an artist who passed away in 2021 and had been associated since the 1960s with Łódź’s progressive and avant-garde artistic milieu.

Various events are held at the Palace, including concerts and lectures.

The former carriage house now hosts the “1/5 Gallery”, where temporary exhibitions are presented.

The Biedermann Palace is located in the center of Łódź. Situated opposite the Old Town Park, it is separated from the Poznański Family Palace and the Manufaktura Shopping and Entertainment Centre. Nearby is also the city’s prominent thoroughfare, Piotrkowska Street.
